Q "If you hear a voice within you say “you cannot paint,” then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced." – Vincent Van Gogh You have a brain and know that you can use it to make your “life happen.” (me) “Not all who wonder are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien Discussion Board Assignment Carefully read my brief article, What is Good Research, above. You may wish to read it quickly, early, and then read its different sections again, in more detail, as you work on the areas of this forum. Then, please think of a decision that you need to, or will need to, make. Explain what you would like to do to solve the problem. Give clear attention and detail to each of these areas, below, in your answer. These areas are important to what I hope you will know about marketing research. [The problem you select may not perfectly relate to some of the areas I want you to examine. Regardless, please explain the specifics of each of these areas and their possible influences on your problem and your analysis of solutions, in sufficient detail to show that you understand each of the specifics.] I think that you will find the different areas to be inspirational! Areas to Address in Primary Post First, In your answer, explain how you are using the scientific method to solve this problem. Discuss the roles of observation, hypotheses, and experimentation. In addition, explain how you are developing insight to come up with good hypotheses. Please be explicit about how you will develop this insight in your research -- give thought about how you will make your hypotheses have insight. Second, show that you understand the different psychological factors involved in developing hypotheses! Go through each of the different psychological factors, beginning with, "being immersed," and explain exactly how each will play a role. Third, please explain how you are using the circular hypothesis-testing process, through at least two cycles. Be very specific about what you will do when conducting each of the different cycles. Fourth, explain the five qualities of good research and how they are playing a role to come up with a good solution. Added Scary Pop Quiz Questions Also Areas for You to Address in Primary Post by Sept. 8! This forum is important to the rest of the course. Thus, of course, discuss a problem that you face and how you will solve it. I want you to be able to solve any problem that you care about!! However, more importantly, show that you understand the specifics of each of the above four areas of this discussion board. With this same spirit do not be scared, but instead, continue to have a feast answering: Fifth: I would like each of you to come up with a very rough draft three – five sentence explanation and justification of a new restaurant you personally might like to select for your home town or other city. Either select a restaurant that does not exist, or one that exists but will change considerably, when you bring "food to thought" to it! Below, I am using a restaurant for pets -- my idea -- and pick one yourself!! Again, I want you to have a feast! Sixth: (I want to make sure that you understand the general stages of research that the course is about and how it ties to the circular hypothesis-testing process.) Use your restaurant concept that you came up with in #5, above. Using your concept, please, initially, discuss at least one possible hypothesis about specifics that you request for your new restaurant (they can be about any area of the marketing mix or restaurant design, but be specific about the area of marketing strategy that you propose). I wrote a note about hypotheses in the ch. 4 material, and skim it if you are unsure about what they mean from the 'What is Good Research" article: Note About Hypotheses for This Course. This specific unit is about exploratory research, the first "cycle" of the circular hypothesis-testing process in the course. You conduct simple exploratory research after you develop hypotheses, to determine if they should be modified. Thus, in addition, please briefly discuss one type of exploratory research that you may consider and how it might have a bearing on examining at least one of your hypotheses. I do not care that you deeply understand exploratory research well, in this discussion board. Yet, minimally, look at the top parts of the following link and pick one that fits your concept. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exploratory_research (Links to an external site.) Furthermore, the next unit of the course, starting on Oct 1, is concerned about primary research. Primary research is more sophisticated research than exploratory research. Often, when conducting primary research. marketing researchers develop a survey for consumers, aimed at examining answers from a good sample of respondents. Here, I do not care that you understand the specifics of primary research. Therefore, finally, explain why you will want to conduct research that is better than exploratory research in a study, after you conduct exploratory research; in other words, why would you conduct a second cycle of "circular hypothesis-testing" research? Seventh: I want this course to be a treat!! I, after all, am the one who is having a treat when you show that you understand different areas of marketing research this semester. I can not do much about COVID-19, but I want you to enjoy this course. Some parts are new, though. Thus, what if you do not understand a part of this forum, or anything? Please write, next, in this "pop quiz" forum, what you will do, if you do not understand something!! Cheat and look at my Secret Weapon Marketing Research "Help Button" in the page above!! Do not tell other students in this class about these secret weapons in the "Help Button!!" (Email me if I may help with this particular forum, for this particular forum, as well, but let me know by Sept. 4!) I want this "pop quiz" to indeed be a treat! Include this final section (ways to get help) and I will treat you to an added point on the first exam. (Please do the rest, too!!) I wanted to be ambitious above and the entire course will be streamlined, as a result. Please provide your primary response by Sept. 8 and your responses by Sept. 10--and come up with something that shows pride!! “Cheat Sheet” Summary of this Discussion Board: 1-4. Discuss How You Will Solve Problem Through Specifics of Four Areas of Article on “Good Research,” Discussed Above. 5. Explain a Restaurant Idea for Your Home Town. 6. Discuss Research Design for Restaurant Idea: a. List and Explain a Marketing Hypothesis. b. Briefly Discuss a Form of Exploratory Research You Will Use. c. Why Have A Stage of Research After Exploratory Research? 7. How Do You Get Help?

I need to make a decision of taking or not internship in the next few months. I will ensure that I am observing whether internship will be useful for my professional development or not. I am also observing whether there will be availability of internships in future or not. Thereafter, I will take suggestions from my friends about taking internships. Once I receive the suggestions, I will check online reviews and find out about effectiveness of internships. If I take short-term internships, I will observe my progress and learning.
